A Busy Month So Far

Well, Damian started 1st grade on monday. I can't believe it. He was so excited to get back and to meet his teacher. We missed the 'Meet the Teacher' night last thursday because of a funeral. When I picked him up from school on monday he was all ready to tell me about his day, show me the stuff he had to bring home, and what he did. He loves his new Monster folder (a folder that the teacher gives him to bring stuff home every monday). Damian thought it was cool. So it has only been 3 days since he started school and i'm already getting the answer of 'nothing' when I ask him what he did in school today. So I said "you were there all day and didn't to anything at all?' and he says "yep!" Gotta love kids!

Summer is coming to an end. Ricky, I and the kids went to Adventure Land 2 weeks ago with my parents. It was a great time. The new water park they have there is great. Damian loved the roller coasters (especially since he is tall enough to ride most of them) and loved the water slides. Teagan loved the little kiddie rides and Damian was a good big brother and rode a few with her and the ones he didn't I carefully squished myself into the ride to go with her. She really loved the water at the park. We had a great time.

My Grandma Allen passed away on August 8th at the age of 84. She was a wonderful woman and I miss her dearly. I regret not going to visit her more but each time I saw her she looked less and less like the Grandma I knew and it broke my heart. That was so difficult for me. Damian and Teagan went up there more frequently than I did to visit. Grandma loved to see her only great-grandkids. They always made her smile. I pray for my Grandpa that he has the strength to continue on. He lost the love of his life. They were married for 61yrs. I look up to them for that.

Now it's the middle of August. Where has the year gone?  It has been one crazy, busy summer with trips and work and the kids. The gym is slowly growing and Ricky has been keeping really busy with classes, nutrition, holding seminars and special lifting classes as well. With a blink of an eye, summer is almost gone!

March Madness

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post. Time sure flies. This week is spring break for Damian, so we shipped the kids down to Amarillo to visit Grandma and Grandpa. My house is so quiet. I keep thinking, what should I do?  I always say I'm going to accomplish this or clean that when they are gone but I never seem to do that. I enjoy being able to be lazy and go home and relax after work and sleep in a few extra minutes in the morning. Since the weather is starting to get nice I'm hoping to enjoy a little bit of the outdoors this week. So far Damian is having a blast and I'm sure Teagan is too!  Who doesn't want a whole week of no rules, bedtimes, school, eating candy and getting spoiled?  To only be little again.

This last weekend I participated in the team tryouts for the Affiliate Team that would be competing in Regionals in Denver. At first I wasn't going to do it but then with little persuasion from Ricky I said sure, just to do it. At first I thought whatever, then a little bit of that competativeness came out and in the end I was a little disappointed in myself. I didn't make it. So I told myself that it is ok. Although competing is fun, it's also a lot of stress and pressure (found that out when I did sectionals). All and all it was fun and even though my body hurts from the crazy WOD's I'm glad I did it. Congrats to all that did the tryouts and made it. Everyone kicked some butt. I will enjoy being able to watch Ricky and all the others from CrossFit Omaha compete in Denver at the end of April.

February 25, 2010

Just sitting here at work looking out the windows and wishing for the cold weather to go away. It seems like winter has been here forever. I can't wait to see green grass, flowers and leaves on the trees. I wonder how long it is going to take for all this snow to melt. A lot of the piles are still so high and very icy. But with the anticipation of signing Damian up for T-ball helps let me know spring is right around the corner (at least I hope it is)!

Damian is growing up so fast. He started wrestling last December and has wrestled in 3 tournaments so far. Winning 2 3rd place medals and a 1st place trophy at the last one. The family will be traveling to St Joseph, MO this weekend for Damin to wrestle in another tournament on sunday. Not sure if Damian is more excited about the wrestling or the fact that he gets to go swimming, as the hotel has a small water park inside. I'm sure Teagan will enjoy that! Went to Parent/Teacher conferences last night. Damian is doing very well. He is advanced in reading and doing well in all his studies. Just needs improvement in listening (what kindergardner doesn't). His behavior has taken a 180 turn. I am so very proud of him. He procedes to tell me that I don't need to ask him everyday if he had a good day, he says "you don't have to ask me everyday mom. I have good days everyday now." I love how he makes me smile.

As for CrossFit things have been ok. Since sectionals I took some time off. My first WOD back was rough. Mental, mental, mental. I gotta break through that.

I should get back to work. Until next time!

2-18-2010

wow, i almost forgot i even had a blog. it has been a long time since i have posted.

well, this last weekend i got to compete in the 2010 Crossfit Sectionals hosted in St Charles, MO at Crossfit TNT. it was a good time and i'm really glad i went. i wasn't anticipating making it to Denver but wanted to go for the competion. i placed 58th out of 70 girls. not too bad. i was able to go rx'd for all three WOD's and i was happy about that. CFO did a great job. taking 8 from sectionals to Denver. 5 girls and 3 guys. the crowd was amazing and it was so awesome to have everyone that traveled down to cheer us on.

after 2 brutal days Ricky and i spent sunday night in St Louis for Valentine's Day. the weather was horrible, cold and snowy, but we had fun. went to eat a nice dinner at a place called Pi (it was the best pizza ever) not to mention the dessert we had, cookie pie! it was like heaven. went to the science museum and mall on monday before taking off back home. then it was off to pick up Damina and Teagan tuesday morning from Grandma & Grandpa's. they had a great time and i missed them.

i'm looking forward to posting more often. weather it be about life, family, CrossFit or the kids.

3-19-2009 Supposed to be a rest day.

Well happy thursday! So i started this blog in hopes i would sit down every night to as least post my thoughts, but obviously that hasn't happend. It has been a weird week for me. Physicaly, mentally & emotionally. I have had a world of ups & downs through the last several months with life & family so trying to get back on track isn't always easy. I'm now down to my last week of materntiy leave & am getting really depressed. I got to take 8 weeks off. I enjoyed being at home & envy any mom who gets to do so full time. Now i get to return my life of a full time job & full time mom. Enough of my babbling.

Today was a reat day, but i came in thanks to Danielle. I chose to to the rowing, ball slam, & DB push press WOD. I finished in 12:45 as was pretty happy with myself. I paced myself a little on the rows, but didn't have to stop & rest. My endurance has gone down as well as other things. gotta keep telling myself that it is going to take time to get back to where i was. Overall it was a great way to finish my day.

600-500-400 Row
12-15-21 Ball Slams (16lb)
10-10-10 DB Push Press (20lbs)

Monday 3-9-2009. I'm Back!

Well for some crazy reason i decided to sit down & start my own blog. I realized that it may be a great idea, not only to have a place for my thoughts, but a place to track my progress as well. It may be about my day, my workout, or about nothing at all but just some random thoughts.

It's good to be able to say today that I'm back!  Yes, i got the official a-ok from the doctor today. No more excuses, not that having a baby isn't a good one!  Overall i feel continuing to work out during my pregnancy was the best thing i could have done. I'm only six weeks out from having Teagan & I'm down to my pre-pregnancy weight (Yah!). The last WOD done was in the second week of December & then it was nothing until now. There are some regrets for stopping so soon. It's always hard when you work so hard to get to where you are & then you have to take 2 steps backwards. Such is life. I'll be back better & stronger in no time!  I'm really looking forward to the heavy lifting, especially the squats & dead lift (my two favorite). I can't wait.

So, as for today's WOD it was good. I could still do the handstand pu's (using ab mats) & KTEs w/a little help). It was awesome.
